FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Answers You Need

Is In Person Enrichment available in my area?

Our flagship enrichment center is located in Green Valley, Arizona and serves the Sahuarita/Green Valley area.We also offer in-person learning experiences in Cottonwood, Verde Valley, and Tucson. We hoping to offer in-person learning in Gilbert and Casa Grande for fall 2023. We are gathering interest at this time.

If you are interested in bringing an enrichment center to your neighborhood, please contact us. Once we have a minimum number of students interested in that area, we are happy to coordinate creating a center near you!

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

Fees are based on the program selected. Families may choose to pay for services a la carte or bundled under one of our Program options. Prices are all listed int he class descriptions.

All of our fees are covered by Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account. We are registered with ESA as an Online Private School. No additional documentation is needed. We recommend your submissions to ESA be categorized under the "expense/fee at a private school" category.

Are there state testing requirements? What about attendance? Or assignments?

No! There are no state testing requirements for AZ Learning Communities students. In addition, there are no attendance requirements and no required standards-aligned samples, assignments, etc. AZ Learning Communities is an enrichment program and support for home-educating families. As such, we are here to help you where you need it and not add to the already demanding task of home educating.

You, as the parent, ultimately choose your curriculum, your schedule, and your level of participation in the activities we offer.

What curriculum do you use?

Our enrichment classes use a variety of curricular materials that are carefully selected by our Specialty Teachers. Specialty Teachers pull from several resources in order to curate an engaging and content rich course of study for each topic.

For Core Subjects, we provide access to online curriculum materials and learning apps. However, we do not require their use. We believe parents know students best and therefore leave the final decision on curriculum choice up to parents (and students!). For parents that are new to home-education, we are happy to suggest a course of study and schedule based on what we learn about you and your student's teaching/learning style. If you come to AZ Learning Communities with a home curriculum in mind or one that you have been using already, we are happy to support you in continuing with that curriculum as well.

Will my student get a transcript?

We do not offer official school transcripts for students outside of our Academy Program. For students in our enrichment program, we will keep parents informed on student's mastery progress in the classes they take with us. However, it will be up to you to record them (if you wish) on a homeschool transcript. Our staff is happy to provide resources on how to keep records and create transcripts for those that need support in this area.

Students in our Academy Program will be taught and graded in core academic subjects by our teachers. Teachers will keep track of student's progress and will issue grades at the end of each semester.

What grade levels is this for?

Students must be at least Kindergarten age to participate. Our in-person learning experiences are a drop off program therefore students should be able to use the bathroom and eat lunch independently as well as follow instructions in a group setting.

Our online program is open to students entering Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Class descriptions for our online classes include the recommended grade bands that the content is geared towards. We offer flexibility here if you have a student outside the grade band that is really interested in taking a course outside their age range.

Our in-person program offerings for this year are either geared towards K-8th graders or K-12th graders, based on location. Locations that only serve K-8th grade at this time are open to initiating a high school in-person cohort as long as we can gather a minimum number of students. Please let us know if you are interested in this option.
